We've been working hard the last few months and have been involved in some really exciting FileMaker work with a number of new and existing clients. We thought that some of our visitors might benefit from similar services so here's the list:
Priory Technology College - PHP based report portal for parents to view their child's school reports, also, an email system for delivering reports to parents. Both systems are run from the school using FileMaker Server Advanced.

Croxteth Comprehensive School - implementation of Conduct Behaviour Management software to help the school record and track incidents of behaviour.
Chatham Grammar School - whole school installation of Lesson Planner Advanced to help teachers plan well and deliver even better lessons!
Apple Centre Warrington - kiosk based marketing software and FileMaker driven quotation system.
Hawthorn High School - implementation of Conduct Behaviour Management software to help the school record and track incidents of behaviour.

We're pleased to announce that beta testing of Conduct Online is well under way.
We'll shortly be making available the full public v1.0 release for schools to purchase. In the meantime if you'd like to try the demo please click here and login using the username teacher and password teacher. The version 1.0 demo is more or less there in terms of functionality but if you spot any bugs please let us know. We'll be adding more help documentation and "how to" videos in the next week or so.
The Conduct Online demo uses the latest FileMaker Server 9 Advanced technology running on a 4 server cluster (one server for the database, one for the FileMaker web publishing engine, one for the web server and one email server.) using PHP 5 to communicate with FileMaker Server Advanced and deliver data to the users web browser.

The new version of FileMaker 9 now includes the ability to connect to and manipulate live data stored in MSSQL and MySQL database tables (as well as others). This opens up new possibilities for using FileMaker to access traditional web based data in shopping carts etc and also to use FileMaker as a much improved front end for an older system that is currently limited by the constrains of your web browser.
FileMaker can easily connect to one or more SQL tables and drag in the data as if it were in a FileMaker table, this includes the ability to perform finds, add records, etc using the much more intuitive FileMaker way of doing things. You don't have to worry about writing complex SQL queries to perform tasks :-)
We've been busy working on a solution that accesses our company mailing list database, stored on our Linux server in many MySQL tables, and extracts the data from multiple tables and fields to one FileMaker table that has all the relevant information for each user in one record. We accomplished this in under a day with FileMaker 9, Actual ODBC driver for Mac OSX and some nifty scripting.

3 Square and FileMaker UK At BETT Education Show, London, Jan 2007
3 Square enjoyed a very successful 4 days at BETT demonstrating Lesson Planner Advanced, Conduct Behaviour Management, Supply Cover Manager, Report Writer and Attendance between the 10th and 13th January 2007.
We'll also demonstrated a whole range of FileMaker tips and tricks including working with XML/XSLT, Flash charts in Web Viewer, text messaging with FileMaker and many more...
During the show we released Lesson Planner Advanced 5.1 and online lesson planning with Lesson Planner Web. Our SMART School keyrings also proved to be very popular!

UK School Census Returns and CTF Files with FileMaker and XML

What are the benefits?
Manipulating Filemaker data using XML has several uses:
• opens up the possibility to communicate between applications that also use XML such as iTunes, Microsoft Office, etc Export a FileMaker record or records and create a formatted Word document, or RSS feed, for example
• transfer data between applications or companies using the standard XML protocol, increasingly important for education and Government organisations who are obliged to try and transfer data using XML
• transform or select data on the fly using an XSLT style sheet, imagine having one set of data but being able to import or export selected parts of it using different style sheets
